Public Transport

I was talking with a friend today about the great public transportation we have in Budapest. For the four years we've lived in Budapest, we have never had a car. (Nor have we missed having one.)

We buy a monthly pass that allows us unlimited travel on trams, buses, electric buses and metros within the city limits. When we came four years ago, it cost about $25 a month. It now costs $50, but is still a bargain.

Many of the street cars and buses have been replaced in the years we've lived here, and a new metro line is being dug about a half mile from our house.

I love the bright orange street cars.
