Dubrovnik--What a Great Place for an Anniversary Celebration

We were sitting at a table in this stairway area and I enjoyed seeing this little brother and sister play near their door.  Made me miss our sweet little grandchildren.

Our room here in Dubrovnik is great...we tried to get it for another night, but just missed being able to as the next occupants asked to come a day early.  The view is stellar and the flat is comfortable and modern.

September 7 on Hvar Island

We walked up to a fortress above Hvar this afternoon and saw some beautiful views.

Hello from Hvar Island

This is the view from our apartment patio
We are now on the island of Hvar, staying in a studio apartment built inside the city wall along a narrow stone pathway.

We bought an expensive coffee at a nice hotel bar that sits on the harbor, and enjoyed the views while we read and worked on the computer.  Such beautiful, peaceful sights all around!

Do you think they miss us at Panera?

Emma and Grace and Keaton....what do you think...Did a pirate ship sneak into port?? Click on this picture to make it big.

Makarska Henna Tatto

Today (Sept. 4) I got a henna tattoo on my ankle...supposed to last 10-15 days.  It can be my test for the real thing next year. This post must have been done after midnight, but it's really about the 4th!

Markarska is a fun place...lots of fun things to eat and beautiful places to walk.

Off to Croatia

Left Budapest about noon and arrived at the Split airport about 2pm.  On the plane I sat next to Jenny Dahlgren who was coming for the Continental Cup 2010.  She is one of two hammer throwers for America (the continent, not the U.S.).  She was interesting...born in Argentina, lived in a number of places growing up to include some years in the U.S. giving her no accent with her English, and now living in and competing for Argentina.

Drove our little rental car from the Split airport to Makarska where I had booked our first hotel room.  I was pleased with my choice--modern and right on the water.  We had a wonderful meal last night watching the sunset on the water and ate breakfast and read our Bible looking out on the water again.

Makarska is beautiful and interesting.  I'll be posting some new things on my Croatia blog, but the lack of free internet and time will make some of them delayed.
